My Day in New Fairfield, CT
I love spending time in New Fairfield because it’s so beautiful when the leaves change. During the summer months I spend my time on Candlewood Lake on my boat and wake boarding or jumping off of chicken rock. The winter time isn’t great up in the woods of NF because if it snows we get a ton of snow. The Town does a horrible job clearing the snow from our winding roads. Over in Candlewood Isle they do a much better job of getting the isle cleared after a big snowstorm.
I don’t live on Candlewood Isle. I live in the Squantz Pond part of NF. The average day in New Fairfield consists of a couple things. First, we always go to Dunkin Donuts for Breakfast because they are only of the only breakfast spots in town. After that we head on over to the lake. Chances are we’d hop on a boat for a little ride around Candlewood. Following that we always head to Johnny’s for lunch. It’s right in the center of town as they call it. The New Fairfield Center doesn’t really have much to it. It’s got a couple good restaurants such as Biscotti’s, Portofino, Bruno’s Pizzeria and of course the best Chinese in town, Yummy Yummy.
Johnny’s is part of a small complex of buildings in the center of town. You’ve got Bank of America, Sarah’s Gift & Ship and that’s about it. After we lunch we always take a drive around New Fairfield and see if we can’t find any of our buddies. We’ll head on over to Ball Pond first because it’s easy to get to. Following our trip to Ball Pond we’ll stop at Candlewood Hills before heading over Candlewood Isle. You can easily get lost in Candlewood Isle so we always make sure to find someone who knows around. It’s a private community right near the lake.
After picking up a few friends we’ll head on over to the other spots around the Lake including Candlewood Knolls, Candlewood Shores and Knollcrest. Once we’ve got about 3-5 cars full of people we’ll head back to New Fairfield Center to debate what we should do from there. It’s not uncommon to see a couple buddies swing by that live in the local neighboring towns like Sherman, New Milford, Brookfield or Danbury.
By the time we get the whole crew together we’ll be already kicked out of the Johnny’s parking lot so we’ll head over the Starbucks over on Route 39. We always peak into this weird fitness studio called EarthFit or Fit Earth or whatever that’s right next to Starbucks. The main gym in the town is Prime Time Fitness right over on Dunham Drive off of Saw Mill Rd.
Our whole crew will sit out in the Stop & Shop parking lot and discuss where we want to go eat. Do we want to head over to Biscotti’s or head into Danbury for some good BBQ at the Cue. It’s always a discussion, but we always find a great place to eat.
